Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato

Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato 2019 review

The rebirth of one of the most beautiful cars ever produced has made the hearts of car enthusiasts everywhere soar. Aston Martin has produced a near-perfect replica of the DB4 GT Zagato and it is perfect in every way. Utterly gorgeous to look at and incredible to drive, Aston’s Works Division has lavished untold care and attention to sculpture a true masterpiece.

The original DB4 GT Zagato was launched nearly 60 years ago as an upgrade to the DB4 GT. At the time it was lauded as the fastest road-legal car in the world, with a top speed of 248km/h.

For true fans of the original, this new model could be an emotional moment. So what should they expect? A near-perfect replica. By using many of the original techniques and materials from the 60’s model, Aston’s heritage division has produced an awe inspiring car that not only pays homage to the original, but elevates it in a very subtle way.

Hand-formed panels, a carburettor-fed six-cylinder engine and period-correct Dunlop racing tyres all match the original. Evolution comes in the form of lighter bodywork and a powerful punch from an upgraded 4.7-litre engine. The inside of the new Zagato looks and feels much like the original with chrome bezelled instruments and a stylish wooden-rimmed steering wheel just like the original, all of which provide a truly authentic driving experience.

Only 19 of these beautiful cars are being produced and the price tag is hefty - £6m. One thing is for sure, if you do get the chance to drive a DB4 GT Zagato, you won’t forget it.
