Can a Land Rover be serviced anywhere?

Fed up with long lead times and outrageous labour rates? Servicing costs can take the enjoyment of Land Rover ownership. Here, we explain the alternatives available.

Once a Land Rover is a few years old, it falls outside of the manufacturer's warranty, and it’s likely your service plan will have ended too. With main dealer labour rates being as much as double that of an independent service centre, it’s an opportunity to shop around and save some money.

Do you have to use a Land Rover dealer?

You may not realise that, as long as independents use manufacturer-approved parts, that your manufacturer warranty remains intact if you go elsewhere for your scheduled maintenance and repair work.

However, a Land Rover main dealer has access to the expertise and equipment to properly maintain your car. Even as an independent ourselves, we would therefore recommend you shop around based upon expertise and price – don’t just book the cheapest option!

Our Service Centre is part of our dealership, which sells 1,500 prestige cars every year. Our Land Rover Service Centre here in Orpington is responsible for preparing all of these cars – around 500 of which are Land Rover Discovery, Discovery Sport, Range Rover Evoque, Sport and Vogue models. Using an independent service centre usually means some compromises may have to be made. No glamorous receptionist, small waiting area, and a drink if you’re lucky. We’re different! We have a large, comfortable, modern Business Lounge that is bigger than most main dealers’. That means you can set up your laptop, join our free WiFi and help yourself to a complimentary drink or two in complete comfort whilst your Land Rover is being worked on. Alternatively, we have courtesy cars available too.
